Ebista Nishinomiya, which underwent a major renovation in 2018, has a food-court-like area called “STREET KITCHEN,” lined with shops serving all kinds of food.
This time, I visited one of them: “PICK UP!! MEAT,” a restaurant specializing in tonteki pork steak and curry.
I love tonteki, but restaurants that focus specifically on tonteki may actually be surprisingly rare.
I’m excited to see what kind of place it is.

“PICK UP!! MEAT” Food
Drinks are a good deal when ordered together with food, so I started with this “Cola” (200 yen).
I sipped my cola while waiting for the food to be ready.
Here is the tonteki.
This time, I ordered the “Thick-Cut Pork Tonteki with Sausage” (1,080 yen) and added cheese as a topping (+100 yen).
All tonteki dishes come with rice, and you can upgrade to a large serving for +100 yen.
The defining feature of the tonteki here is that it’s incredibly thick!!
Because it’s thick-cut, the inside is very juicy and rare, cooked right on the edge of whether the heat has reached the center or not, letting the rich flavor and sweetness of the pork come through.
The sauce is the classic Worcestershire-style sauce often used for tonteki, and it really brings out the sweetness of the pork.
The sausage served alongside it also complements the tonteki nicely.
As you can see, the portion is very satisfying, and as a tonteki lover, this made for a very satisfying lunch.
Since it was lunchtime, I didn’t have any alcohol, but this place does serve drinks, so next time I’d definitely like to enjoy it with a beer.
