The “Izakaya 3,000 Yen Drinks” series started around Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi Station, and there’s another interesting spot in the Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi area, so this time we decided to check it out.
That place is “鶴亀八番 西宮北口店.”
Apparently, a draft beer is 228 yen a glass.
We definitely had to go.
Challenge Start!

First, I ordered a “Draft Beer 555ml Mug” (348 yen).
It’s hard to tell how big it is from this photo, but I’ll include a comparison with a regular medium mug later.

This time, I planned to drink nothing but beer.
So for now, I decided to order a few things that seemed like they would go well with beer.
First up is this: “Miso-Marinated Cream Cheese” (230 yen).
The flavor of the miso had soaked nicely into the cream cheese, and it was really tasty.
Miso and cheese go well together, don’t they?

This is “Chicken Chashu Covered in Green Onion” (230 yen).

And this is “Tsukune with Ponzu” (250 yen).
I kept drinking beer with these three dishes as my snacks.

Another “Draft Beer 555ml Mug” (348 yen)…

After two beers, I started adjusting things a bit from the third glass.
For the third one, I ordered the regular “Draft Beer” (228 yen).
Seeing them side by side, you can really tell the difference in size.

I wanted to eat a little more, so I ordered the “100% Domestic Beef Hamburg Steak” (380 yen).
A lot of the dishes here are seasoned with a ponzu base, so one of their features is that they’re light and easy to eat.
Of course, that makes the drinks go down even faster.

So, another “Draft Beer” (228 yen)…

At this price, I should still be able to order one more dish!!
So from the finishing dishes, I ordered “Yakisoba DE Napolitan” (450 yen).
As the name suggests, it’s yakisoba seasoned in a Napolitan-style sauce.
It’s just right as a final dish, but it makes you want one more drink…
And now, it’s time for the suspenseful bill.
How much did it come to this time?
Here’s the result!
Ta-da!!
3,036 yen!!!
I went over again!!
Damn you, consumption tax!!
I should have made my final dish the “Mini Tuna Rice Bowl” (390 yen)…
That said, I was very satisfied, so let’s call it good.
I think this was the most alcohol I’ve had so far in the series.
Here’s what I ordered: Draft Beer 555ml Mug ×2, Draft Beer ×2, Miso-Marinated Cream Cheese, Tsukune with Ponzu, Chicken Chashu Covered in Green Onion, 100% Domestic Beef Hamburg Steak, and Yakisoba DE Napolitan.
“鶴亀八番 西宮北口店” Menu

Here’s the menu.
They have a great selection of dishes that look perfect as snacks with drinks…
Also, a medium mug of beer is 228 yen, but they also have an even better-value 555ml mug for 348 yen.
Exterior of “鶴亀八番 西宮北口店”
It’s a large izakaya near Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi Station, so many people have probably seen it before.

This is what the exterior looks like.
With lots of lanterns, it’s a bright and lively place.

This poster says “Draft Beer 228 yen per glass.”
