“Kushiya Monogatari,” a buffet-style kushikatsu restaurant, is a nationwide chain and well known across Japan, and there’s also a location in Nishinomiya Gardens.
It has an innovative setup where you fry the skewers right at your table and eat them fresh out of the fryer, but what kind of restaurant is it exactly?
This time, we visited “Naniwa Kushiya Monogatari Hankyu Nishinomiya Gardens.”

Food at “Naniwa Kushiya Monogatari Hankyu Nishinomiya Gardens”
This time we had the “Weekday Lunch Course” (1,499 yen) + “Drink Bar” (200 yen).

First, you choose your favorite sauces from here.

Here’s what we chose this time.
Four kinds: “sweet sauce,” “grated daikon,” “plum sauce,” and “cheese sauce.”

Next, you take some “batter” and “bread crumbs.”
These become the coating.

Bring these back to the table too.
Now, let’s finally try frying some kushikatsu.

We picked up “onion,” “eggplant,” “pork,” and “bacon.”

Coat them with “batter” and “bread crumbs”…

Then drop them into the fryer on the table!

They’re frying up like this.

They come out nice and crisp like this.

Dip them in sauce and enjoy.
Yep, delicious.
After all, fried food is best when it’s freshly fried.

We had this much kushikatsu—

We also had some curry partway through.
It isn’t very spicy.
It feels mild enough for kids to eat too.

We also tried the “kashiwa meshi” chicken rice.
It has a rich soy sauce and chicken flavor, and it’s delicious.
It goes well with kushikatsu too.

Of course, we finished with dessert.
We had “marshmallows,” “mini cream puffs,” and various cakes.
With all this food for just a little over 2,000 yen, it seems like a pretty good deal.
As long as you’re careful around the oil, I think families can enjoy it plenty too.

By the way, here’s the drink menu↓

The food is buffet-style, so you look at what’s available and take whatever you like.

It’s a little hard to see, but on the lower row, from the right, are “chicken cartilage” and “eringi mushrooms.”

On the lower row, from the left, are “chikuwa,” “konjac,” “okra,” and “black tiger shrimp.”

On the lower row are “hamo fish balls.”

The far right of the upper row is “pork,” and on the lower row is “taiyaki.”

On the lower row, from the left, are “eggplant,” “cheese chikuwa,” “bacon,” “pumpkin,” and “tsukune.”

They also had “yakisoba.”

Here you’ll find “kashiwa meshi,” “rice,” “curry,” “onion soup,” and “pickles.”

There are also various kinds of “salad” and “dessert.”

And finally, here is the “drink bar.”
Inside “Naniwa Kushiya Monogatari Hankyu Nishinomiya Gardens”

The table seating is lined up like this.
There’s a fryer on each table, so the style is to fry and eat your kushikatsu right at your table.
Exterior of “Naniwa Kushiya Monogatari Hankyu Nishinomiya Gardens”

It’s on the 4th floor of Gardens, on the opposite side from the entrance (north side).

This is what the exterior looks like.
The 1,999 yen shown on the sign is the dinner-time price.
Please note that it is not the lunch-time price.
