It seems cicadas have started singing in Nishinomiya.
(Information provided by Maemin and Mushishi)

Around 5 p.m., a cicada-like “jijiji” sound was apparently heard at Shukugawa Station.
We asked Mushishi(むしし), a Nishinomiya local and applied entomology instructor, about it.
Since it seems a little early for the

Aburazemi cicada, which is often seen in Nishinomiya,

it may have been a Niiniizemi cicada or

a Haruzemi cicada (though they’re not often found in urban areas, so this is less likely).
There’s also a grasshopper relative called

Kubikirigisu, whose call is often mistaken for a cicada at this time of year. It may possibly have been this insect.
Without seeing the actual insect or hearing the sound, I can’t say for sure, but please take this as a general opinion🙇
That’s what they said.
So it could even have been a grasshopper. In the past, Nishi2 reported that cicadas started singing in Koroen on July 2, but since it’s been as hot as midsummer lately, it does seem possible that it was a cicada.
※Maemin and Mushishi, thank you for the information!!
