We’re here to let you know about a rather unusual cherry blossom blooming in Ichiriyamacho, an area where all kinds of sakura bloom.

A super fluffy cherry blossom. Have you ever seen anything like this?
Here’s the location↓
The address is around 15 and 16 Ichiriyamacho, Nishinomiya City, Hyogo Prefecture.

This is called Fugenzo-zakura(ふげんぞうさくら),

and apparently it got its name because it resembles the trunk of the elephant ridden by Fugen Bosatsu. This image was created with AI〜

Now that you mention it, it does kind of look like one. Photo taken on 4/11.

This is another rare cherry blossom with a greenish color.

This one is called Ukon-zakura(うこんざくら). “Utsu,” “kin,” and “sakura” all in one name. It really leaves an impression. The name comes from ukon(turmeric),

because the flower’s color is said to resemble cloth dyed with turmeric. Honestly, I don’t even really know what color turmeric is〜

There are also weeping cherry blossoms and others blooming here, so it might be fun to check out some sakura beyond the usual classics〜
