The concrete playground equipment at “Kubo Park (Traffic Park)” in Kubocho had been freshly repainted.
Speaking of Traffic Park, it was opened to commemorate Nishinomiya City’s 45th anniversary, so it’s already been around for about 50 years.
I don’t think the playground equipment has been renovated much during that time (though there have been some minor works), so most of it has really started to show its age.
But now, with the help of students from Otemae University, it looks like the equipment is being repainted and given a fresh new look!
There was this notice at Traffic Park↓

The equipment being repainted this time is the set that recreates a townscape along the roads inside the park.
Some of them were already painted last year, so let’s take a look at the difference.
First, here’s the equipment that hasn’t been painted yet.

Well, how should I put it…
It really does look old…
To be blunt, it’s pretty worn out…
It’s practically ruins (okay, maybe that’s going too far…).
Now, let’s take a look at the painted equipment.

Oh wow!!!
It really looks completely different!!
So clean and nice…
They didn’t just repaint it; the decorations are cute and make it look fun too.

When the buildings along the road look nice, it makes you want to be more mindful of traffic safety too.
Apparently, the other playground equipment will also be repainted gradually over the course of this year.
I can’t wait to see Traffic Park once all the equipment has been beautifully refreshed.
