We Tried Standing Bar Matsubara Right by Shukugawa Station! Izakaya Drinks for 3,000 Yen

COVID has finally started to settle down, and Nishinomiya Tsushin is gradually getting back to normal operations too.

So with that, our long-awaited “Izakaya 3,000 Yen Challenge” is back.

This time, we visited “松原,” a standing bar that just opened in front of Hankyu Shukugawa Station!

Challenge Start!

Here’s the first drink.

It’s a “Draft Beer (Asahi Super Dry)” (380 yen).

It feels like it’s been a while since I last had a beer…

Since this is a standing bar, the prices are quite reasonable compared with other places around here.

There are lots of food options too, but first I ordered this “Chicken Nanban” (320 yen).

Their Chicken Nanban uses bite-sized pieces of chicken, making it feel light and easy to eat.

It goes well with drinks too.

As I was eating the Chicken Nanban, I started wanting some sake, so I chose this for my second drink.

From the recommended sake list, it’s “Tenpoichi SPICY 夏潤” (price not confirmed).

It’s a sake from Hiroshima, and it has such a refreshing acidity that you might almost think it’s a citrus liqueur, though that may be a slight exaggeration. It’s a somewhat unusual sake.

Of course, nothing has been added to it; it’s pure Japanese sake.

Next, I ordered this “Stir-fried Gizzard with Garlic Soy Sauce” (380 yen).

This was also seasoned on the stronger side, so it really makes you want to keep drinking.

The third drink was “旭日,” a local sake from Omi (price not confirmed).

This one is a more classic-style sake, with a mellow, easy-drinking mouthfeel.

It seems like it would pair well with just about any dish.

Finally, one more drink: a “Highball (Black Nikka)” (320 yen) to wrap things up!

Now it’s time to pay the bill.

Since it had been a while, I ordered while carefully keeping track of the total. So how did it turn out?

2,990 yen!!!!

That was the final amount!!

Not bad at all after such a long break~~
