The city hall issued a notice saying, “Please watch out for frozen water pipes during the cold wave from January 7 through this weekend!” and we turned it into an article, so
we went to Mikuruma Pond in Shinrin Park and Kinsenji Lake in Yamaguchi-cho to observe just how cold it was, measuring the air and water temperatures ヽ(^o^)丿
For Nishinomiya that day, Weathernews said the forecast high was 2℃ and the low was -4℃! For Yamaguchi-cho, the forecast high was 1℃ and the low was -8℃ ^^;I’m curious where in Yamaguchi-cho they measure it…
Mikuruma Pond in Shinrin Park
We did our observation sounds kind of cool when you put it that way at around 12:30 p.m.

On the bridge, it was 2.7℃ ヽ(^o^)丿

The ice underfoot hadn’t melted at all ^_^;
“I want to measure the pond temperature too!”
“The pond’s a bit much, so try the river though it’s more like a little stream, or really a babbling brook instead.”

“Wahaha(^^)That’s kind of cute Okay, measure it over here.”

“You’re right! It started at 1.7℃, didn’t it? If it’s 2.7℃, that’s about the same as the air temperature ^^;”
On the Way

“Wow, snow!!!!!”
“Sorry to disappoint you, but that’s not snow… It’s the stuff they spread so the road doesn’t freeze.”

“Maybe there’ll be snow once we get through the tunnel.”

“There was some along the edge the day before yesterday, but now it’s gone (・_・;)”

“Found some!”
And with just that tiny bit of snow, the excitement level hit maximum! Snow was falling too, but so lightlylike dust that it didn’t even show up in the photos !(^^)!
Kinsenji Lake in Yamaguchi-cho
We observed it at around 1:20 p.m.

Kinsenji Lake was 2.4℃ \(^o^)/

People from the Waterworks Bureau were making their rounds, so the only usable shot we got was this tree with red berries ^^;
Finally
It was the warmest time of the day, but the temperature was still only in the 2℃ range!
The wind was strong and it was seriously cold. The sky was clear, but in Yamaguchi-cho, snow kept fluttering down the whole time, too lightly to show up in photos…
By the way, outside the entrance of the Nishitsu office in Shukugawa it was 3.9℃, and inside the office it was 20℃!
The cold days are going to continue for a while, so let’s do our best to take care of ourselves \(^o^)/
