A blue chick?!
Apparently, this is an omikuji fortune slip. You can receive one for a 1,000 yen first offering.
It seems to be modeled after a bird called the “red-flanked bluetail,” which is often seen in the Hirota no Mori woods.

It definitely has an unusual color. If I spotted one, I feel like I’d get excited and say, “Whoa, there’s some rare-looking bird.”
When I looked up the red-flanked bluetail online, it was described as a “blue bird of happiness.” Apparently, this coloring is found in adult males. It’s smaller than a sparrow. The color is ruri-iro(lapis lazuli blue), a deep purple and vivid blue shade.

When I looked into why it’s called the “blue bird of happiness,” I found that blue feathers symbolize “good luck” and “happiness,” and that seeing its beautiful appearance warms the heart and makes people feel happy.
peke, who shared this information with us(the person who requested the Jizo statue feature on Tantei! Knight Scoop), said they ended up buying it because the ceramic bird was so cute for 1,000 yen. The Kenjumamori amulet was also really beautiful before, and with more and more shrine items that make you want them, I’d love to see the development story behind them.
