A reader let us know that “Ebessan Baumkuchen is being sold” in the souvenir section at the Kinokawa Service Area in Wakayama Prefecture.
Here’s the product↓↓

Bimi Ebisu Baumkuchen!!
When you think of Ebessan, you think of Nishinomiya Shrine
So could this be a product related to Nishinomiya Shrine, and by extension, Nishinomiya?
Info this good needs to be reported to Nishitsu right away! (Whether the reader actually thought that or not, we don’t know lol)

If you look closely… actually, you don’t even have to look closely.
It says OSAKA in huge letters. So it has nothing to do with Nishinomiya?! (Whether the reader thought that or not, we don’t know lol)
Unfortunately, it turned out to be a baumkuchen unrelated to Nishinomiya’s Nishinomiya Shrine.
Apparently, it had a simple explanation saying something like Ebisu-sama is a famous god “in Kansai.”
Even though Nishinomiya Shrine is the head shrine of the roughly 3,500 Ebisu shrines across Japan… (The reader seems to have felt a little frustrated about that too)
That was the story.
Kinokawa Service Area is here↓↓
The address is 744-5 Kitano, Wakayama City, Wakayama Prefecture.
