Various Cherry Blossoms in Ichiriyamacho
There’s a long, narrow park along the road at the site, and several different kinds of cherry trees are planted there.

Kawazu-zakura. It’s famous as an early-blooming cherry blossom. The slightly deeper pink color really stands out against the winter sky.
Apparently, there are some at Kanno-ji Temple in Nishinomiya too.

Okame-zakura? No, Okame… actually Okanzakura. It’s read “Okanzakura.” Not “Daikan,” okay?
Its main feature is that it blooms about a week earlier than the typical cherry blossom, Somei Yoshino. This year, we might be able to see the flowers from around mid-March.

There are lots of buds too. Maybe they’ll bloom a little later.

Ukon-zakura. Apparently, it’s read “Ukonzakura.”
Turmeric, which is used as a spice and dye, is known for its yellow color, and this cherry blossom got its name because the flower color resembles turmeric’s yellow.
Its blooming season is said to be a little later, around mid-April.

Fugenzou. “Fugenzou”??? It doesn’t really sound like the name of a cherry blossom, does it?
It’s said to be a cherry tree planted at Fugendo Hall in Kamakura, and the name comes from the white elephant ridden by Fugen Bosatsu. Beautiful double-flowered cherry blossoms apparently bloom around April.

Some buds look like they’re about to bloom soon. Can’t wait, can’t wait 😊
By the way, Nishinomiya City’s official flower is the cherry blossom.
There are cherry blossoms on the waterworks manhole covers too↓
