It looks like a new commercial facility will be built near Koshien Stadium.
(This information was provided by Shoi. Thank you!)
Here’s where it will be on the map↓

Creating a place where families and couples can have fun
The new commercial facility will apparently be three stories tall.
Here’s a summary of what was written in the Kobe Shimbun.
- Restaurants (1st floor)
- Retail shops (1st floor)
- Cafe (2nd floor)
- A corner where visitors can simulate batting against a professional pitcher (2nd floor)
- Exhibits from the Koshien History Museum (2nd floor)
- Connected to Koshien Stadium by a deck (2nd floor)
- A kids’ zone where children can play (3rd floor)
- A multipurpose hall where cheerleading practice can be held (3rd floor)
It’s really exciting to imagine what kinds of restaurants will move in.
They’re apparently aiming to create a space that everyone from children to adults can enjoy casually, not just hardcore baseball fans.
There’s also a plan to connect it to Lalaport Koshien with a deck
To improve circulation around the area, there also seems to be a plan to connect the buildings with a passageway or deck linking it to “Lalaport Koshien.”
Lalaport Koshien, located right in front of the site↓

I wonder what the connection will look like.
They’re aiming to open in 2021
So it should be completed in about two years. (As of 2019/8/18)
Construction is scheduled to begin in 2020, with the goal of opening in 2021.
How big will it be?
The planned construction site appears to be the former site of municipal housing, and the site area is 3,200㎡.
In terms of size, the site is roughly a little smaller than KidZania Koshien.
But since it will have three floors, it should feel quite spacious overall.
The site↓

Koshien is straight ahead, and Lalaport Koshien is on the right.
Finally
The Kobe Shimbun wrote that the goal is to create a “ballpark area” around the stadium that stays lively all year round. I wonder if the facility’s name will end up being something like “Ballpark”??
Also, the “corner where visitors can simulate batting against a professional pitcher” is probably VR. VR has been popular lately, hasn’t it? I’ve heard VR ZONE OSAKA at HEP FIVE in Umeda is really fun. I hope they take inspiration from all kinds of places.
Lately, there’s been a lot of exciting news in Nishinomiya, like Nishinomiyahama Comprehensive Park, and it’s really something to look forward to. These days, whenever I see the words “new commercial facility,” they somehow look delicious to me.
