While running at Nishinomiyahama, I came across that slithery thing!
I’ve been running this route for more than 10 years, but this was the first time I’d seen one.

I thought it was a piece of string-like trash, but it was wriggling!
Looks like it accidentally came out from the grass onto the path.
When we contacted the Environmental Sanitation Division at City Hall, they said it was “most likely a mamushi pit viper.” Snakes have apparently been seen at Nishinomiyahama before, but this seems to have been the first reported case of a mamushi. Normally, snakes are extremely wary and almost never appear where people can see them. A mamushi at Nishinomiyahama is quite unexpected, so nearby residents and anyone visiting the park should be very careful.

Zoom in!!
It slithered off into the grass.

On the north side of Nishinomiyahama, the red structure you can see in the distance is Nishinomiya Ohashi Bridge!(It’s apparently about 500 meters long!)

When it’s not high tide, you can also run along the lower part below the stairs♪
