Here they are↓

Wait, what? These are definitely ticket gates… right?
Let’s take a closer look.

Yep. No doubt about it. They’re train ticket gates.
Could they be building a new train station here or something?
Yeah, no way!
If news like that came in, it would be huge news for Nishitsu.
Here’s the map↓

What the Ticket Gates at Mercado Mukogawa Really Are
We contacted the Mercado Mukogawa office to ask about them. It turns out they were installed because bicycles and motorbikes had been passing through at speed, creating a safety risk, so the gates were made to encourage people to get off and walk through.
Ahh, right. So they serve the same purpose as these.

You know, something like this.
So why make them ticket gates? Because of this↓

There is a project to install Hanshin Electric Railway’s “Akado Train” at Mukogawa Danchi, so the gates were designed as a playful nod to that.

The part where you tap your card says, “Welcome to Mercado Mukogawa.”

“MUKOCA” and “Merpa”!!! That’s hilarious!!

The Akado Train is currently waiting under a cover.

It looks like it’s eagerly waiting for its time to shine.
Final Thoughts
The ticket gates that suddenly appeared at Mercado Mukogawa were installed to help keep people safe. It’s nice how they connect to the Akado Train with such a playful touch. The unveiling date for the Akado Train has not been decided yet, but it seems like it could help bring more energy to the area.
Banchi-san, thank you for the tip!!
