A “Nishitsu Detective” feature where Nishinomiya Tsushin writers look into Nishinomiya’s mysteries and questions and turn them into articles
This article is brought to you by “Nichinoken,” a cram school that supports Nishitsu.
This request comes from “Milky.” ↓
“The Jizo statue that used to be beside the Hanshin elevated tracks along the Tateishi Line has disappeared. Where did it go?”
(Milky, thank you for the tip!)
The Jizo on Tateishi-suji
We looked for an original photo because our boss said, “I’m sure I took one once,” but 😅 we couldn’t find it, so here it is from “Google” ↓
I see, I see 🤔. There’s a small shrine, and a Jizo statue is there 🔎
I’ll go take a look〜🚲

The whole shrine is gone 😳!!
Would the neighborhood association know about the Jizo statue? I checked the town name… “Ichiniwacho, Nishinomiya City”
On the map, it’s around here ↓
The address is around 6 Ichiniwacho, Nishinomiya City, Hyogo Prefecture. It’s along Tateishi-suji.

“Ichiniwa Civic Hall” was nearby, so I went in and asked!

Wow 😳! Mystery solved nice and clean〜!!
Thank you for your help!!
Since I was already there, I went to nearby “Enmanji”.

Known for this sign, it’s “Nishinomiya Naritasan Enmanji”.

(※Photo taken with special permission.)
It had already been enshrined in the cemetery.
After checking on “Google,” I think this is the Jizo statue from Tateishi-suji!!
Still, I never thought we’d actually be able to track the Jizo statue down 😅
Ahh! What a relief〜🙌
(I was worried it might have been something scary, like the thefts or vandalism you sometimes see on the news… 😰)
Thank you to the people at the civic hall and the monks at Enmanji for your help 🙇
In Closing
These days, we hear that as the people who look after Jizo statues get older, more places are holding memorial services for them and removing them, kind of like closing a family grave.
If you think, “The neighborhood Jizo statue is gone 😰,” try asking someone in the neighborhood association first!
I wonder what will happen to Jizo-bon and events like that〜🤔?
Oh, and Sakura FM will apparently air a program called “Jizo Statues and Nishinomiya” four times in August.
Milky, thank you for the tip!!
