We visited a “greengrocer” on Kurakuen-guchi Street that carries freshly harvested vegetables from Okayama.
This article is brought to you by “Nichinoken,” a cram school that supports Nishitsu.

The blue cow bike? is the landmark.
Here it is on the map↓
The address is 13-20 Kikutani-cho, Nishinomiya City, Hyogo Prefecture.
Show us the shop!

There are vegetables lined up out front that I’ve never seen before.

B-butternut squash? I’ve never even heard of it. I’m curious.

This was another first for me: “suibonsou.” So cute.

Seasonal pears and peaches are lined up too.

They even have chestnuts and mukago. It was my first time seeing mukago too.

Lots of reduced-pesticide vegetables from Okayama.

Everyone’s favorite Shine Muscat grapes are 980 yen (tax included). So cheap.

They also have carefully selected seasonings.

And at the back of the shop, there’s a huge amount of “rock salt” sold by weight. And for some reason, there’s an alien in front of the rock salt. Haha.

In front of the alien, for some reason again, there’s a drum set. Haha. Apparently their child plays the drums. Amazing.

This shop is a greengrocer, but it opens at 1:00 p.m. The reason is that the owner brings in freshly harvested vegetables from Okayama every morning. Apparently, he makes the round trip between Okayama and Kurakuen every single day.

Finally
The shop is run by a married couple. The husband is based in Okayama, where he visits farmers in the morning, then brings the vegetables all the way to Kurakuen. After that, he hands things over to his wife and heads back to Okayama. Making that round trip every day is incredible, isn’t it? Thanks to that, fresh vegetables from Okayama are available every day. Customers kept coming in nonstop after the shop opened. Okayama is said to be famous for its long hours of sunshine and delicious vegetables and fruit. They also carry tofu, rice, and more, not just vegetables. It’s amazing that even without going there, you can buy freshly harvested Okayama vegetables right here in Nishinomiya.
