The ginkgo trees along JR Koshienguchi are packed with tons of ginkgo nuts (^_^)/
This article is brought to you by “ALBOBBY,” a salon that supports Nishitsu.

The address is around 1 Koshienguchi Kitamachi, Nishinomiya City, Hyogo Prefecture.
It’s on the street in front of the foot treatment clinic “GenkiStyle”.
The north side of JR Koshienguchi is lined with ginkgo trees (^_^)/

Ginkgo fruits on the ground. The ginkgo nuts are inside these.

When I looked up, the trees were loaded with fruit !(^^)!

This tree also has ginkgo nuts growing on it!
Ginkgo trees are dioecious plants, meaning there are male and female trees, and only the female trees bear fruit (^^)
I got the impression that quite a lot of the roadside trees in Koshienguchi are fruit-bearing ginkgo trees.
A lot of people dislike their distinctive smell, so in recent years, more areas have apparently been planting only male ginkgo trees, which don’t produce ginkgo nuts, as street trees ^_^;
Reasons ginkgo trees are chosen as street trees
- They grow quickly
- They are resistant to diseases and pests
- They don’t weaken easily even after pruning
- They are resistant to exhaust fumes
- They look beautiful
- They live a long time
- They are fire-resistant (many survived the Great Kanto Earthquake)
Ginkgo is actually the most common type of street tree! By the way, cherry trees are second, and zelkova trees are third.
It’s become the season when you can start spotting little signs of autumn.
I’m looking forward to the delicious harvests of fall ヽ(^o^)丿
