I was invited to attend the reception for “栗歩-KURIHO-,” a specialty Japanese chestnut Mont Blanc shop that opened on September 26.

This is the machine they use. It’s manual. So impressive.
And here’s the chestnut paste that forms the base.
The base is layered from the bottom with sponge cake, marron paste, meringue, fresh cream, and crunchy chocolate.
They put the chestnut paste into the opening…
When they pull the lever, a waterfall of chestnut quietly comes flowing down. Waaow.
It’s starting to look like Mont Blanc now.
To finish, they top it with slices of chestnut, and it’s done.
Ta-da. This is the “Domestic Japanese Chestnut Mont Blanc (with drink)” for 1,980 yen (tax included).
Look at how big it is. Just looking at it feels like autumn.
Time to dig in.
The chestnut paste on top is almost pure chestnut. It isn’t very sweet at all, so it feels like you’re eating chestnuts just as they are♡
The best balance is when you eat it together with the cream and meringue in the base.
Since it comes with a drink, we chose the “Japanese black tea (iced)” on the right and the “Kaga roasted green tea (hot)” on the left.
