This time, we visited the yakiniku restaurant “金剛苑,” located about 340 meters north of JR Nishinomiya Station.
It has the feel of a simple, old-fashioned yakiniku spot.

Yakiniku “金剛苑” Food
First up, it has to be this.
It’s 450 yen.
By the way, I’m sitting at a table seat.
This is salted tongue (800 yen) and rice (300 yen).
All the photos show one serving.
Let’s get it on the grill right away.
It’s an old-school gas yakiniku grill.
It feels kind of nostalgic.
The tongue is eaten with lemon sauce.
It’s sliced fairly thin, so be careful not to overcook it.
This is the loin (800 yen).
It’s the only lean meat on the menu.
The sauce here is soy sauce-based, with a nice garlic flavor.
This is kalbi (750 yen).
When you think of yakiniku, you think of kalbi.
And speaking of kalbi, there’s one more thing…
Bone-in kalbi (800 yen).
It’s been a while since I had bone-in kalbi.
Pick it up with your hands and dig in.
I also had liver (650 yen).
I was getting pretty full, but since I was here, I decided to order something to finish off the meal too.
So I ordered cold noodles (700 yen).
This is also a simple bowl of cold noodles.
The kimchi does a great job here.
I ate until I was full and left very satisfied.
Eating about this much came to around 6,000 yen in total (including two beers…).
It’s the kind of place you can visit alone or with two or three people, and it also seems like it would work well for a lively meal with around 10 people.
They also take reservations for parties.

The restaurant is fairly compact, with table seating in the middle and tatami seating on both sides.

It really feels like a place loved by local regulars.
Yakiniku “金剛苑” Exterior
This brightly lit sign standing out on the nighttime street is the landmark.
The restaurant is located just off Yamate Kansen, but you can see this sign clearly from Yamate Kansen as well.

The noren curtain is out and the sign is lit, but the shutter is closed.
Are they open?
When I got closer, there was a sign saying “Open.”
Actually, the shutter was apparently broken at the time.
