This time we visited the yakitori izakaya “吉鳥.”
There are two locations in Nishinomiya, and this time we went to the “Nishinomiya Kita-Imazu” location. (The other one is in Naruo.)
Despite the “Kita-Imazu” name, the nearest station is Hanshin-Kokudo Station.
It’s located along Route 2, so many of you have probably seen it before.

Challenge Start!
Right away…
We’ll start with a “draft beer” (280 yen).
Since this is a yakitori place, of course we’ll start with skewers.
We ordered two “seseri” (chicken neck meat) skewers (120 yen each) and two “tsukune” (chicken meatball) skewers (130 yen each).
Please note that skewers must be ordered in sets of two.
I have a feeling the beer is going to go down fast again…
Second glass~
We ordered the “Chicken Nanban” (480 yen), which was listed in the popular menu ranking.
The harmony of the chicken, batter, and tartar sauce is just perfect.
Already on the third glass.
Beer really does go well with chicken…
So, more chicken it is.
We tried ordering the “Karaage with grated daikon and ponzu” (480 yen).
It’s our second fried dish in a row, but the grated daikon and ponzu make it feel light and refreshing.
Naturally, the beer is picking up speed too.

Around here, let’s do a little calculating.
Can we squeeze in one more dish to finish…?
For the closing dish, we went with this “onigiri (plum)” (150 yen).
It’s hard to tell from the photo, but it’s actually a pretty big rice ball.
The rice was cooked nicely, and the salt level was just right too.
Now then, how much did the total come to?
Out of the five challenges so far, we’ve gone over 3,000 yen twice, so we really want to avoid another miss…

A huge success!!
Man, that was nerve-racking.
What we ordered this time was: 4 draft beers, 2 seseri skewers, 2 tsukune skewers, Chicken Nanban, karaage with grated daikon and ponzu, and an onigiri (plum).
