A sister restaurant of “民生,” a Cantonese restaurant in Hilton Plaza West in Osaka, opened in Gardens this April.
The restaurant we visited this time is “水蓮月（すいれんつき） Nishinomiya Gardens.”
It’s said to be a place where you can enjoy authentic, carefully prepared Cantonese cuisine.

Cantonese Cuisine “水蓮月 Nishinomiya Gardens” Dishes
There are so many items on the menu that it’s hard to choose, but when in doubt, go with the recommended menu!
So I ordered the “Gardens Lunch” (2,300 yen).
Apparently it comes with 9 kinds of appetizers and this week’s main dish.
First up is the “9 kinds of appetizers.”
“Century egg”
“Pickled cucumber”
“Roast pork”
“Eggplant”
“Shrimp”
“Simmered shellfish”
“Sea bream sashimi”
“Steamed chicken”
“Jellyfish”
That’s the lineup.
Even introducing them all is quite a task.
The appetizers alone are satisfying enough, but…
You can choose either “rice” or “congee,” and this time I went with the “congee.”
It’s Chinese-style congee, and the seasoning is fairly rich.
You eat it with zha cai and green onions.
Refills are free.
It also comes with “soup.”
This is today’s main dish, “stir-fried shrimp and mushrooms.”
When you think of Chinese cuisine, stir-fried dishes really are a classic.
The shrimp are plump, and the umami of the mushrooms comes through nicely.
This is definitely something I could never make at home.
It’s a dish only a pro could make.
Dessert is included after the meal too (and there are two kinds).
They were “blueberry pudding” and “sesame dumpling.”
Both were very tasty as well.
Altogether, that makes a total of 14 dishes.
I was very satisfied, getting to enjoy so much authentic Cantonese cuisine.
