Many different events were held during the long weekend, and in the Shukugawa area, the “Celebration of Longevity” was hosted by the “Shukugawa District Social Welfare Council.”
The purpose of the event is to invite local senior residents, give them an enjoyable time, and celebrate their long lives.
It’s an annual event held around this time every year at Shukugawa Public Hall.
Here’s a quick look at what it was like.

First up was the opening performance by “Shukugawa Taiko.”

A lot of people came to watch the opening taiko performance.

This is the banner for the organizer, the “Shukugawa District Social Welfare Council.”
Their name changed recently, so this is a new banner.

After the opening, everyone moved to the hall, where there was a greeting from the chairperson, along with performances such as music and dance by local groups.

This year’s program looked like this.
All of the performers in Part 1 were groups mainly active in the Shukugawa area.
“Ensemble Flotte” in Part 2 is a professional performance group, and this time they performed an ensemble of piano, violin, and vocal music.

In the lobby, there was also an exhibition of works by members of a local camera club.
A cafe corner had also been set up.
So many people came, and the event was really lively.
Not only older residents but also many local elementary school students were there too (some of them performed as well), making it a valuable opportunity for people of different generations to interact.
This time it was an event in the Shukugawa area, but many events like this are held all around the city, so we’d like to continue covering them whenever possible.
