I went to Mondo Yakujin Tokoji Temple for hatsumode (the first shrine or temple visit of the year) at around 11 a.m. on January 1.

This is the approach to the temple right after exiting Mondo-Yakujin Station.

I thought there might not be any food stalls along the road, but there were some set up.

It really feels like there are stalls all the way along.

People were lined up all the way to the approach, so you should be able to find your way without getting lost.

This is Ryuo Hiroba, a park that opened two years ago.

The entrance. There were quite a few people.

There were stalls inside the temple grounds too, along with lots of visitors.

It was incredibly crowded.

The building in the back of the photo is where charms and talismans are sold.

There was a designated route for people lining up in front of the omikuji fortune slips.

There is a set route along the approach.

Lots of cars were coming in too.
Finally
Hatsumode visits continue on the 2nd and 3rd as well, so hopefully this is helpful. The annual Yakujin Grand Festival is also held every year on the 18th and 19th.
