The “Four Types of Hot Dogs” at “マウリオラ”

This time, Nishi2 readers sent us photos from マウリオラ, who generously provided hot dogs for five people during the Nishi2-dori New Year Special Live Stream!

Original Hot Dog ¥650 (tax included)

This Original one is the hardest-to-eat yet tastiest hot dog in Japan, right!

The Original Hot Dog had several kinds of shredded vegetables that seemed to be pickled underneath the sausage, and on top of that were the sausage, a standard pickle sauce, and fried onion chips.

When I brought it home and opened it up, sure enough, since it’s advertised as hard to eat, I was impressed by the thoughtful touch of even including plastic gloves so your hands don’t get dirty.

The bread was different from the usual kind, crispy on the outside and fluffy inside, with a perfectly balanced texture and aroma. It paired wonderfully with the carrots, pickled red cabbage, and other fillings, and was extremely delicious.

I went to eat マウリオラ’s hot dog (Classic)♪🌭

Oh! This is what you’d call THE hot dog!

The cabbage soaked with curry flavor was just perfect, and the bread was delicious too, so I ended up eating it in no time. The coffee also had a nice balance of richness, bitterness, and acidity.

Cheese Dog ¥500 (tax included)

This is exactly “simple is best.” A hot dog with a snappy, juicy wiener and cheese♪ It looks like マウリオラ uses bread from Kojiya in Koshienguchi〜

Salsa Dog ¥760 (tax included)

This dog is packed with colorful vegetables like chopped pickles, onions, lettuce, carrots, and tomatoes, giving it an outstandingly fresh feel.

It’s great how much salad is in thereー♪

The ethnic flavor of the salsa sauce goes perfectly with the crisp, crunchy vegetables✨This might be the first time I’ve eaten a hot dog with this many fillings. It’s healthy, but also really satisfying～👍

I ate it very carefully, but of course I still spilled some halfway through and went, “Aaah!!” 😂 But that’s part of the fun🎵 I made sure to eat every last bit of the spilled fillings too✨
