As we mentioned in a recent Nishitsu article, “大正庵” near Kurakuenguchi Station has reopened after renovations.

Apparently, the previous owner retired, and a new owner has taken over.
The owner has changed, but the building and shop name remain the same as before.
Since this long-loved local shop has reopened, we went back to visit again.
“大正庵” Dishes
This time, we ordered the “大正庵 Set Meal” (980 yen).
You can choose hot soba or udon, or cold soba or udon.
This is the “大正庵 Set Meal.”
It’s a set meal with tendon (tempura rice bowl).

It comes topped with tempura shrimp, pumpkin, and nori.
We heard the flavor had changed from before, but it didn’t feel all that different.
It was delicious, just like before.
This time, we chose cold soba.
The soba has a nice firmness, and the dipping sauce is tasty too.
The fried tofu soaks up the soba sauce, which makes it delicious as well.
It also came with an “onsen tamago” soft-boiled egg.
It had been a while since we enjoyed food from 大正庵 while looking out over Shukugawa, and it really is a relaxing, calming space.
As a local, I was very happy to hear the news of its reopening.

It’s located right near Hankyu Kurakuenguchi Station.
This large lantern is the landmark.
The shop is located just a little way in from the lantern.
There is balloon art celebrating the opening.
