Takeout Review: Spice Curry Bomaye’s “Three Ultimate Chicken Curries and Charcoal-Grilled Blackened Chicken” by Hanshin Imazu Station

Shacho-mi tried the “Three Kinds of Ultimate Chicken Curry and Charcoal-Grilled Blackened Chicken” from Spice Curry Bomaye, located right by Hanshin Imazu Station, as takeout via Uber Eats. Bomaye previously ranked high in our survey, “Where do you go for curry in Nishinomiya?” I had never really tried spice-style curry before, so I was curious what it would be like and decided to give it a try〜.

This is a three-curry combo plate featuring “Aged Shio Koji Chicken Curry,” “Chicken Lajiao and Extra-Coarse Parent Chicken Keema Curry,” and “Shigure Curry,” which won runner-up in the new shop category of Kansai Ultimate Curry 2021.

This is the “Aged Shio Koji Chicken Curry.” It’s a talked-about curry that reportedly served 2,000 portions at West Japan’s largest curry event, the Curry Expo. You can really tell it’s packed with spices〜.

The spicy heat makes you break into a gentle sweat. There are nice chunks of chicken in it too, and the roux is infused with the umami of all kinds of ingredients〜

It’s spicy, but you just can’t stop spooning it up!!

This is the “Chicken Lajiao and Extra-Coarse Parent Chicken Keema Curry.”

A comforting sweetness like dashi spreads through your mouth, and then the heat of the spices follows after〜.

Charcoal-grilled chicken is on top too. Why does charcoal grilling smell so good?　It really gets your appetite going〜

And this one is the “Shigure Curry.”

The moment I scooped it up with my spoon, I wondered, is this the aroma of chicken?　Such a lovely fragrance wafts up〜〜

The heat is mild, and among the three curries, this one has the gentlest flavor. The refreshing aroma of spices comes through your nose in the aftertaste〜

The refreshing sweetness of the pickled onion and tomato gently soothes your warmed-up tongue and gets you craving more curry all over again.

As someone who had only eaten European-style curry until now, every flavor was completely new to me, and I felt this was a spice curry that even beginners can enjoy easily. I’d definitely like to go eat at the shop someday!!

It makes total sense that their frozen curry has been selected as a Nishinomiya City hometown tax return gift〜.
