I used to go to a long-established eel restaurant in Sakai, but it closed a few years ago due to rising prices and fewer customers. I had been looking for a good place, and then, amazingly, I heard one was opening within walking distance!!
Since my family was back home for Obon, I made a reservation by phone and the five of us went right away. We had the premium unaju.
Having the whole family gather for Obon and enjoy premium unaju sounds like such a perfect momentー✨

Now this is a luxurious dish! The eel is so glossy, it really gets your appetite goingー✨
Four pieces of eel were arranged in the lacquered box so that they overlapped. It was prepared in my favorite style: steamed first, then grilled with sauce. The texture and flavor reminded me of the place I used to visit. It’s fluffy inside, nicely firm on the outside, and the sauce is a little on the rich side, but it’s excellent.
So the steaming and grilling are both just rightー.
According to their part-time job listing, they don’t skewer the eel or use charcoal, but the cooking is still finished very well. I do think it would have been nice if there had been just a bit more rice. The rice was delicious too! Please make a larger rice option available, haha.
The sansho pepper comes in very plain-looking packaging, but it had a strong aroma and gave the unaju a clean, well-balanced finish.
It says “carefully selected, precious sansho pepper”! It’s also nice that you can add extra sauceー.

The staff were polite from the time I made the phone reservation, but not stiff or overly formal. The atmosphere made it feel easy to come back again.
The first floor has the entrance and cashier. The kitchen is on the second floor, and the third and fourth floors are dining areas.
It has a calm atmosphere and feels upscaleー✨
We were seated on the third floor. It had two six-person tables, two four-person tables, one two-person table, and a restroom. The fourth floor seems to be a tatami seating area.
The bamboo blinds and wood-grain look make it seem really comfortableー.
You move between floors by elevator. Even people with leg problems can visit without hesitation.
It’s great that the restaurant is barrier-free and easy for all kinds of people to useー.

As a side note, this restaurant has several notices near the entrance and elsewhere saying that credit cards and various payment apps cannot be used because applications are still being processed. But in practice, credit card payments and the like can be made using AirPay, Recruit’s payment terminal.That said, the AirPay terminal seems to use a mobile network, and especially during times when crowds gather at Koshien Stadium, the connection speed can slow down and make it unusable. So it seems best to be prepared to pay in cash if possible. On this day, it worked, so we were able to pay by card.
