Visited Sunny Side Cafe in Kotoen

★Sadly, the cafe closed around March 2020.

Just a short walk from Hankyu Kotoen Station, I went to Sunny Side Cafe, a cozy place where you can relax even on your own.

Exterior

It’s about a 2-minute walk from the east exit of Kotoen Station. ↓I took this after lunchtime was over, so the sign had switched to dinner (^_^;)

A Pretty Good-Value Lunch

What I had that day was this week’s plate lunch: “Grilled Chicken Thigh with Homemade Tartar Sauce”

Bread, salad, and drinks are all-you-can-take from the buffet corner! That’s basically all-you-can-eat!(^^)! What a deal👌

There were 5 kinds of salad toppings and 4 kinds of dressing (*^_^*)

There were also 6 kinds of bread. Beside them was a toaster oven for warming them up…

There were 6 kinds of cold drinks, plus hot coffee and tea…

They were lined up around the counter. It felt easy to go back for seconds (^_^)

I had iced tea, cheese bread, and a salad with croutons, Parmesan cheese, and Caesar dressing ←I love cheese💓

“Time to eat!(^^)!” The homemade tartar sauce went perfectly with the chicken and was really delicious! The slightly orange-looking dish in the middle was mentaiko potato salad, and both the saltiness and spiciness were just right. Since I was short on time that day, I skipped dessert and had coffee after the meal☕

Inside the Cafe

The interior has a warm, woodsy feel throughout. Instead of matching chairs and sofas lined up neatly, each piece is different and full of character. The lap blankets placed around the cafe were cute too😍

The window-side sofa seat they showed me to was really comfortable.

There were other customers, so I only took a few photos inside, but there were two sofa seats for four people and two sofa seats for two people… I definitely recommend the sofa seats (^_^)v

Final Thoughts

It was a relaxing space whether you’re there alone or with friends. There were moms with babies and a group of women celebrating a friend’s birthday with a surprise, all enjoying their time at the cafe (*^_^*)

Apparently, the cafe had been open for 5 years. The owner, who was very pleasant, took care of us.
The flooring, chairs, tables, and sofas all showed a stylish attention to detail and had a really nice feel. Next time, I want to try the limited-quantity French toast!!
