Don’t you ever have days when you think, “I just want a little drink,” or “Maybe just one beer”?
Changing things up a bit from our usual “3,000-yen izakaya drinks” series,
went out for a casual quick drink for the first time in a while.
The budget is roughly “1,000 yen”
The place chosen for this quick drink was “Aburi Nakaichiya” near JR Nishinomiya.
Nakaichiya Set

There it was in the upper right of the menu: the “Nakaichiya Set”!!
It includes “1 drink + 3 chef’s-choice grilled items” for 1,000 yen
This is perfect for a quick drink.
So I ordered it right away.

The moment the beer (Kirin Ichiban Shibori) arrived, the gas grill was fired up!!

It’s a grill-it-yourself style!!

From the left: herb salt, miso sauce, and lemon juice.

Three chef’s-choice grilled items. (If you order for two people, you get six grilled items, and they make sure the cuts don’t overlap.)
What! This is a lot!!(Will one beer be enough…?)
From the left: “thigh,” “seseri,” and “harami”.
They also said to grill the “nira” chives a little and enjoy them. (I didn’t hear properly and thought they said green onion)
Let’s start grilling!
※The three chef’s-choice grilled items vary by day.

It looks delicious already!!!
I want to eat it now…

Flip it over a bit, and grill the green onion too… (At this point, I still think it’s green onion)
I figured I’d start with the “thigh,” so I dipped a piece in the miso sauce and took a bite.
It’s sooooo good!! It’s tender but still has a nice springiness, and the chicken fat spreads out juicy and rich.
Most of all, being able to eat it fresh off the grill is the best!
Of course, the “seseri” and “harami” were way too good too!

Then I ate the nira chives that I was convinced were green onion, and I started wondering.
This green onion isn’t spicy at all, and it doesn’t taste like green onion at all. If anything, it tastes sweet. Why???
So I asked the manager, “Why isn’t this green onion spicy at all?”
“Oh, it’s not green onion. It’s nira chives,” he said.
“Oh, nira!” (No wonder it didn’t taste like green onion. Embarrassing…)
Good thing I asked. I was about to write the article thinking the “nira” was green onion. (That was close)

By the time I had eaten about half the chicken, my beer was gone. The budget was 1,000 yen, but we’re doing this as “roughly” 1,000 yen, so I gave myself permission and ordered another draft beer.
To be honest, with this much chicken, I could easily drink three beers! That’s how generous the portion is!
That said, the three grilled items and two draft beers left me completely full!
The bill was: “Nakaichiya Set” 1,000, “nira” 180, and “draft beer” 350.
The total came to 1,530 yen!! (Whether this still counts as roughly 1,000 yen is kind of questionable???)
