Starting June 1, Hanshin Expressway fares for long-distance sections will apparently be going up
(This information was provided by Kagayaki 509-go @ Nishitsu SP)
Quoted from New Fares: Hanshin Expressway Fares Are Changing | Hanshin Expressway Company Limited
If the distance does not exceed 32.3 km, fares will stay the same as before.
The previous maximum of 1,320 yen will be raised to 1,950 yen. So the biggest increase is 630 yen
We’ve summarized the specific changes below. All map images are quoted from the official website.
Nishinomiya (toward Kobe)
A case we looked into briefly
- Sections from Nishinomiya toward Kobe: No fare changes. (Because they do not exceed 32.3 km)

20% off with the late-night discount
It looks like several discount programs will be added. One notable option that seems useful is the late-night discount.
- Late-night discount: For ETC-equipped vehicles only. If you pass through a Hanshin Expressway entrance during the late-night hours (between midnight and 4:00 a.m.), your fare will be discounted by 20%
For other new discount programs, please check the official website!
Finally
Basically, it’s the long-distance fares that are getting more expensive. If you’re heading out somewhere for fun, it may feel like it costs around 600 yen more at most, so it’s probably best to be mentally prepared.
