According to Kobe Shimbun, it says they are aiming for completion in fiscal 2028. That would be four years from now at the earliest

Resort Naruohama had a pool, gym, and hot spring facilities.

Resort Naruohama Will Be Demolished, and Something New Will Be Built

It seems the Resort Naruohama building will be demolished. The parking lot on the east side will also be demolished. The building called Hana Kobo will apparently be demolished and relocated

It is scheduled to be demolished in fiscal 2026.

According to Nishinomiya City’s redevelopment schedule draft, things will likely move forward like this:

1. The operator will be selected (fiscal 2024-2025)
2. Resort Naruohama will be demolished (fiscal 2026-2027)
3. Some kind of facility will be built and opened (fiscal 2028)

Since it’s still a draft, there’s a good chance the schedule could shift.

Memories of Resort Naruohama

Let’s look back at what the old Resort Naruohama was like.

You could see the mountains and the sea. The sunset was beautiful.

There was also an indoor pool, and if I remember right, there was a slide too.

What Will Be Built?

According to Nishinomiya City materials, the concept is “harmony between the sea and greenery, and seaside recreation.”

Based on the survey results from Nishitsu’s earlier article, “If you could freely use the former Resort Naruohama site, what would you build?”, here are some facilities that might be possible.

Things That Might Be Built (Nishitsu’s hopeful ideas)

• A dog pool, hot spring, and dog run
• A campground or glamping site
• A place where you can show up empty-handed and enjoy barbecue
• The same kind of heated leisure pool and hot spring as before
• A revival of the pool
• A park where kids can play, plus a barbecue area
• An aquarium pool
• A small aquarium, zoo, or amusement park would be fine
• A casual bay hotel with Miyatan as general manager, including a day-use hot spring facility

Probably Difficult (But maybe they’ll be built somewhere someday)

• Soccer field
• A large gymnasium for the Nishinomiya Storks
• Planetarium
• Outlet mall
• Fish farm
• Lopia
• Costco
• IKEA
• Large daycare center
• Hospital specializing in infectious diseases
• BMX facility
• Resort Naruohama Kingdom
• Nuclear waste treatment facility
• Artificial-turf baseball field

Finally

Personally, what I’d like to see most is, after all, a pool. And maybe a facility where you can camp too. Costco and places like that still seem to have strong support.
