Kaoru Takara(宝馨), president of the Japan High School Baseball Federation, which organizes high school baseball, is a graduate of Taisha Junior High School and Kitako (Nishinomiya Kita High School).

He then went on to Kyoto University’s Faculty of Engineering. These days, he appears to be a Kyoto University professor specializing in hydrology(the study of water circulation on Earth) and disaster prevention technology policy, and he also seems to have served as president of the Japan Society for Natural Disaster Science. He is originally from Hikone City, Shiga Prefecture, and apparently transferred to Taisha Junior High School during his junior high years. He graduated in March 1972.

He was part of the 2nd class at Kitako. Apparently, he played as a pitcher during his Kitako days. He even pitched at Koshien Stadium during the summer Hyogo tournament.

It’s nice to see someone from Taisha Junior High and Kitako involved in high school baseball! Since he’s also experienced playing at Koshien Stadium himself, I wonder what it feels like for him to watch today’s players. Hotoku Gakuen will also be representing Nishinomiya, so maybe it feels a little extra special.
