This month, on Friday, November 1, “Nama” Shokupan Sogyoke had just opened in Tsuto Kurehacho near Imazu Station.

The much-talked-about “nama” shokupan, where the 111 free loaves handed out disappeared in an instant,

was picked up this time by Shachobi!

“Nama” Shokupan Sogyoke’s Morning-Baked “Nama” Shokupan Cheese

Morning-Baked “Nama” Shokupan Cheese ¥1,080(tax included)

The shop’s Instagram had a video of the cheese stretching out that looked insanely delicious, so I chose the cheese one.

There’s crispy cheese on top too. You just know this is going to be good.
Here’s what the inside looks like↓

Like this, cheese is kneaded into the dough.

I wanted to get that cheese stretch, so I warmed it in the microwave at 700W for about 40 seconds. The wattage and timing are just my own method

Look at that. The cheese stretches sooo far.

The chewy shokupan has a touch of sweetness, and the subtly flavored cheese blends in really nicely. You can taste both the bread and the cheese properly. It’s a really great balance.
It also brings out the aroma, so I recommend warming it up!

The crispy cheese on the very top is also wonderfully fragrant. The darker orange cheese parts have a stronger flavor, so even within one slice, the flavor changes randomly depending on where you bite.
The crust is soft too, so it doesn’t really feel crusty. I ate it up in no time.

By the way, when you buy the “nama” shokupan, you receive this serial number card. Just one away from 700. So close!
“Nama” Shokupan Sogyoke Menu

There are several flavors of morning-baked “nama” shokupan, including plain, cheese, raisin, chocolate, and apparently an sweet potato flavor too.
Plain is available as 1 loaf (¥540) or 2 loaves (¥864), and the other flavors are ¥1,080 per loaf.

On this day, the “nama” shokupan flavors were plain, chocolate, and cheese. It seems to vary by day.

On this day, the cheese “nama” shokupan was selling the best.

The previous day’s final-baked shokupan is ¥200 off, which is a nice deal.

They also sell a variety of sweet potato sweets from “Kokyu Imogashi Shimizu,” another shop run by Mr. Sakaue.

Japanese-style sweet potato, sweet potato financiers, candied sweet potatoes, Mont Blanc, and sweet potato chips. The Mont Blanc daifuku looks intriguing.

They were also selling roasted sweet potatoes in front of the shop. Perfect for the season ahead.
