I visited “磯家波平 西宮えびす店,” located along Route 2 near Hanshin Nishinomiya Station.
The restaurant opened about four years ago, but since it’s in such a noticeable spot, I think many people already know it.
It really lights up the area along Route 2 every night.
Apparently it specializes in hamayaki seafood grilling and kushikatsu, but what kind of place is it?

Challenge Start!
This time, I’m going with beer.
It’s “Asahi Super Dry (medium draft)” (390 yen).
This is the “tsukidashi” appetizer (300 yen).
I think the contents vary depending on the day.
As always, I almost finish my first drink just with the tsukidashi.
Since I’m here, I’ll order something grilled.
I went with the “salmon chan-chan-yaki” (480 yen).
First, this portable stove is brought to the table.
It’s chan-chan-yaki cooked in foil, so the ingredients wrapped in aluminum foil go straight onto the heat.
Wait a few minutes…
Waiting while drinking beer…
Looks like it’s ready.
The sweetness of the vegetables and the savory miso go really well with the salmon.
Because it’s steam-grilled, none of that delicious flavor escapes.

The chan-chan-yaki keeps the drinks going…
Next, I tried something raw.
From the winter menu, I ordered “raw oysters with ponzu” (580 yen).
Why are oysters so delicious…?
Third beer.
I think it’s about time to wrap things up.
They also seem to have sushi, so I ordered this “madai” sea bream (180 yen) to finish.
It’s delicious enough to hold its own against a sushi restaurant.
The fish must be really fresh.
Now then, how much was the bill?
The result…
3,003 yen!!
That was it!!
So close!!
It’s moments like this when you really feel the consumption tax hike…
So this time I ordered: tsukidashi, Asahi Super Dry (medium draft) x 3, salmon chan-chan-yaki, raw oysters with ponzu, and nigiri sushi (madai sea bream).
