When you think of the pastry shop “Henri Charpentier,”

you might picture the Sakagura-dori shop, the one that smells absolutely amazing〜

A lot of people probably also think of the Ebisuta Nishinomiya shop, where Ebisu financiers are sold in a big, bold display.
This time, though, we heard a Valentine’s Day-only chocolate financier was going on sale〜

So we made a little trip to the Ashiya main shop〜〜
Here it is on the map↓
The address is 7-10-101 Kōmitsu-cho, Ashiya City, Hyogo Prefecture.
It’s right near Hanshin Ashiya Station.

Here’s what the inside looks like. There’s even an eat-in space〜. Today, we joined their media tasting event〜.
Henri Charpentier’s “Financier au Chocolat” and more

They even showed us the pastry chef making the financiers we’d be tasting〜.

The chocolate financier batter. Just thinking that this would turn into financiers got me a little excited.

They’re freshly baked!! This is irresistible〜〜〜〜

It came served on such a stylish plate〜〜

Financier au Chocolat
That white thing that almost looks like an egg is vanilla ice cream〜〜!

Usually, you just pick up a financier with your hand and bite into it, right? This was my first time eating one with a knife and fork, so I was kind of nervous!

Wait! Is this what a freshly made financier is like?! Crisp on the outside, fluffy on the inside! And somehow, the chocolate flavor is both rich and elegant at the same time! Amazing.

Putting ice cream on a financier. Oh wow, I’m definitely doing this whenever I eat financiers from now on. It’s addictive.

The chocolate in this financier is special: it’s made with Ugandan cacao beans and is 73% cacao. No wonder it had such a deep chocolate flavor. But it’s not overly sweet at all! I love it〜
It’s only on sale until February 14, so don’t miss it!

These are new items from Henri’s sister brand “C3”: “Cacao Berry Witch” and “Baked Tiramisu White Chocolat”〜

It’s funny how placing them with coffee like this instantly makes them look unbelievably luxurious. Everyone should try it.

The Cacao Berry Witch is a sweet that looks like a jewel. Apparently, each piece of dried fruit is placed on by hand. If someone gave me this, I’d be thrilled〜

This is the “Baked Tiramisu White Chocolat” — basically, they baked tiramisu, which you usually can only eat fresh〜〜! It has a coffee flavor〜. Very grown-up.

There’s something fun over here〜

It’s one of those flowing chocolate things〜〜〜 (It’s called a fountain.)

It’s actually a rich, melty strawberry sauce〜. Financier fondue! The sweet-tart strawberry goes so well with the financier〜〜. This is being served at Kobe Luminarie and is available until February 2〜. It seems you can only eat it at Luminarie, so definitely check it out.

Inside the shop, they sell Henri’s classic financiers that everyone loves.

A financier made with Hyogo’s local Jiro strawberries. By the way, Jiro strawberries actually originated in Naruo. A little fun fact.

Henri’s absolutely wonderful “Financier au Chocolat” would be great for Valentine’s Day, and also perfect to buy for yourself and try with different kinds of ice cream〜

The staff at Henri in Ashiya were all so fun and warm. It’s great to have such a delicious and lovely shop in places like Ashiya and Nishinomiya! Actually, I went with Fuko from Ashitsuu. Check out the Ashitsuu article too
