Due to a system issue affecting Aeon Group stores on 4/6, the Daiei at Hanshin Nishinomiya closed earlier than usual.

Due to a system error, the cash registers are no longer usable, so we will be closing for the day.
That’s what the notice said, according to Nishi2 reader Yukari, who confirmed it at 4:35 p.m. It seems likely that most other Aeon-affiliated stores were in a similar situation.

This is the Daiei in Shukugawa. Cashless payments were completely down, and they were accepting cash only.

The checkout lines were unbelievably long, and it really made me realize just how amazing cashless payments are (apparently some QR code payments still worked). It felt like we had suddenly gone all the way back to the Showa era. I think I waited more than 10 minutes.

To deal with the issue, the staff were handling the registers in a way that seemed different from usual. Even though it was such a difficult situation and they probably had to deal with complaints, they handled everything so efficiently. They really looked dependable.
