It looks like African cuisine restaurant “JOLLOF KITCHEN” in the basement 1st floor food court of Aeon Nishinomiya along the Nakatsuhama Line is set to open on May 3.

Apparently, it serves food from a country in Africa called The Gambia. Do you know where that is?
Here it is on the map↓
It’s in western Africa, south of Senegal. Though honestly, this was my first time learning where Senegal is too〜
Apparently there was an American drama a long time ago called Roots, and the main character was Gambian. If you know it, that might ring a bell.
On the floor guide, it’s here↓
Quoted from Floor Guide – Aeon Nishinomiya
It’s the spot where the one-coin Chinese restaurant “上海租界,” “39食堂,” and “カレー屋 アカリ” used to be.
“JOLLOF KITCHEN” Menu

Looks so good〜〜

The dish in the middle is called fufu. It’s made by mashing fluffy potatoes and kneading them with boiling water, kind of like mochi. Apparently, it’s a staple food there.

The curry is said to have a rich flavor from peanut sauce. That definitely sounds intriguing. By the way, Gambian cuisine apparently has a lot of stewed dishes, and since the country faces the ocean, fish is also commonly used.
Final Thoughts
If you’re thinking, “I’ve never heard of Gambian food,” apparently the only Gambian restaurant in Japan until now was one inside a consulate in Aichi. And now, the memorable second location is in Nishinomiya. In a way, it’s kind of exciting that you can eat something at Aeon Nishinomiya that you normally wouldn’t get to try, almost like at the Expo〜
