Just a little south of Hankyu Shukugawa Station, there’s a shop called “貴味蛸.”
Its specialty is “Akashiyaki,” but as many of you know, in Akashi they don’t actually call “Akashiyaki” by that name.
You won’t find “Akashiyaki” written anywhere on this shop’s menu either.
Until now, they had only been open for lunch on weekends, but it seems they’ve recently started serving lunch on weekdays too.
This time, we stopped by during lunchtime.
“貴味蛸” Food
First up has to be their “玉子焼” (600 yen).
It’s a type of takoyaki, but it’s made with a batter that uses more egg and is eaten dipped in broth.
The tamagoyaki soaks up the broth, letting you enjoy the octopus with a distinctive flavor.
They also have “五目焼,” which includes octopus, ground meat, and green onions.
Besides “玉子焼,” they serve a variety of other dishes, mostly Taiwanese cuisine.
This is “ネギ豚” (550 yen).
Boiled pork is topped with plenty of green onions and spicy miso.
You mix this well before eating.

It would be perfect as a snack with drinks, though since it was lunchtime, we didn’t have any.
This is “米糕（ミーカオ）” (700 yen).
Sweet-and-savory simmered beans, pork belly, and cucumber are served on top of sticky rice.

The sauce on top is outstanding.
You can enjoy all kinds of other Taiwanese dishes here too.

It’s on the first floor of an apartment building called “Stork Mansion,” just a little south of Hankyu Shukugawa Station.
It faces the road, so it should be easy to find.

When they’re open, there’s a signboard out front, so use that as your landmark.
It says lunch is on Saturdays and Sundays, but recently they’re often open on weekdays too, so please contact the shop directly to confirm their hours.
