The June 12 sighting was “north of Route 176,” while these droppings were found to the “south”
The first sighting was in Najio Akasaka and Najio Higashikubo, along the Chugoku Expressway, or National Route 176. That was on the Sanda side.
But Najio Sanso, where the droppings were found this time, is on the south side, toward Rokko, across Route 176. Looks like it crossed Inaroku, huh…

It may have finally entered Nishinomiya. (This is only a possibility.)

No traces on 6/13 → physical evidence in the form of droppings on 6/15
Nishinomiya City set up a Crisis Response Office at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 13. When Hyogo Prefecture, Nishinomiya City, and the local hunters’ association patrolled the surrounding area that morning, they reportedly found no traces of a bear.

After that, there had been no new sightings since late at night on June 12, but then droppings were found on June 15. So what had only been eyewitness reports now seems to have its first piece of physical evidence…
So far, there have been no reports of injuries.
Please continue to be careful near the mountains
Nishinomiya City’s Agricultural Administration Division is also urging caution.
- Bears are active from evening through early morning and may appear around residential areas
- When entering the mountains, make noise with something like a bell or radio
- If you see one, do not approach it and report it immediately
