We visited 黒十ヤ, a shop we also covered in an opening article last year.
The shop is located in Gardens Kitchen, the food court at Gardens.
It is an affiliated shop of 黒十, a Kobe-based restaurant specializing in Japanese yam, and 黒十ヤ specializes in Japanese yam tororo rice bowls.
Tororo rice bowls themselves are fairly uncommon, but being able to eat Japanese yam at a food court may be even more unusual.

This time, we ordered the “Umami Fried Chicken Cheese Tororo Rice Bowl” (990 yen) and “Oolong Tea” (200 yen).
The tororo rice bowl looked like this.
You can choose either miso or soy sauce for the tororo, and this time we went with soy sauce.
The fried chicken itself was very juicy and delicious, but eating it together with the tororo made it feel lighter, creating a rice bowl unlike anything we had tasted before.
The cheese and tororo also go surprisingly well together.
It looked like the fried chicken was the star, but the Japanese yam was actually the main attraction. It was a really tasty rice bowl.
