There used to be a Sanuki udon shop called “Kamatake Udon” in Sennichimae, Namba.
Although it was Sanuki udon, its original style also incorporated elements of Osaka udon, and the menu had plenty of unique items, such as “Kimura-kun,” eaten with kimchi and chili oil.
The “Kamatake Udon” that was in Namba has now changed into a shop under a different brand, but “Kamatake Udon” itself has not disappeared. In Hyogo Prefecture, there is a branch in the food court at Nishinomiya Gardens.
This time, we visited “Kamatake Udon Nishinomiya Gardens” and tried their signature udon.

Namba Sennichimae “Kamatake Udon Nishinomiya Gardens” Food
In addition to udon, they also have several good-value set meals. This time, I ordered the “Negitoro-don Chikutama Set” (900 yen).
For 900 yen, you get “Chikutama Tempura Bukkake Udon” with a half-size “Negitoro-don,” so it’s a pretty great deal.
This is the “Negitoro-don” that comes with the set.
It comes with soy sauce, wasabi, and a quail egg.
Although it is half-size, it has a decent amount of volume and goes very well with the udon.
Perhaps they use their own original soy sauce, as it tasted slightly sweet to me.
Now, this is the “Chikutama Tempura Bukkake Udon.”
You can choose either “cold” or “hot,” and this time I went with “hot.”
The udon is said to be based on “Sanuki udon,” but rather than focusing heavily on the firm chewiness typical of authentic Sanuki udon, the noodles had a gentle feel with a pleasantly springy texture and softness.
The toppings are egg tempura and chikuwa tempura.
The egg is cooked soft-boiled, so when you break it open, the yolk flows out.
As someone who loves soft-boiled eggs, this is a very welcome topping.
The chikuwa is very large and extremely satisfying.
There is soy sauce for bukkake udon at the order pickup counter, so you can make the flavor stronger if you like.
