There are many restaurants in the Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi area, and the commercial facility “ACTA Nishinomiya,” which is directly connected to Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi Station, also has plenty of places to eat.
In particular, the 1st floor of the West Building is a restaurant floor, with a wide variety of dining options ranging from local restaurants to major chain stores.
This time, we visited “Katsuki,” a tonkatsu specialty restaurant.
It is a chain with many locations mainly in Osaka, but this is the only one in Nishinomiya.
The restaurant opened in ACTA relatively recently, but it seems to be bustling every day.

Tonkatsu “Katsuki Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi Branch” Food
We heard they offer good-value lunch menus during lunchtime, so we decided to choose from the lunch menu.
This is the “Premium Toro Loin Katsu Lunch” (1,230 yen).
“Rice,” “shijimi clam soup,” and “cabbage” come with free refills.
Apparently, it uses a different cut of meat from the regular menu’s loin katsu, and this one is slightly more expensive.
But the regular menu’s “Loin Katsu Set” is 1,310 yen for the same 150g, so the lunch menu really is the better deal.
You grind the sesame seeds, then add the special sauce and enjoy.
Loin katsu can become dry if it is cooked too much, but this one was fried just slightly rare, which felt just right.
It was a very juicy and sweet loin katsu, with just the right amount of fat in the lean meat.
The “shijimi clam soup” was also delicious, with a good clam broth flavor.
