The restaurants on the 1st floor of ACTA Nishinomiya West Building are really varied, with all kinds of different genres, but this place in particular has a slightly more authentic feel to it.
It might seem a bit intimidating at first, but it actually doesn’t appear to be a high-end restaurant. Instead, it seems to be a place where you can enjoy authentic Sichuan cuisine at reasonable prices.
This time, I had an authentic Chinese lunch at “悠香園（ゆうかえん）”.

“悠香園（ゆうかえん）” Cuisine
I ordered the “Mapo Tofu Set Meal” (1,100 yen), which was marked as the manager’s top recommendation.
When you think of Sichuan cuisine, mapo tofu is the classic dish.
The set meal comes with “salad,” “rice,” “soup,” “fried items,” “side dish,” and “zha cai,” and the “rice” comes with free refills.
The mapo tofu was quite spicy, and I think the chili peppers stood out more than the Sichuan peppercorns.
It was a classic mapo tofu, with plenty of savory flavor within the heat.
It also goes really well with rice.
Since my mouth was feeling the heat, I had this “almond tofu” (300 yen) after the meal.
After spicy tofu, sweet tofu is just right.
After ordering a set meal, you can get a small “almond tofu” for 110 yen as a service, but this one is the regular-size almond tofu.
It was a lunch where I could enjoy authentic Chinese cuisine right through to the very end.
