I went right away to Sushi Sakaba “はち助,” which had just opened on 3月22日!
This spot used to be the new location of Kushiage Sakaba “かわ神,” which was formerly in the Koshienguchi shopping street, so I’m guessing it’s part of the same group.
I’m looking forward to seeing what kind of place it is.

The Challenge Begins!
They have menu items besides sushi, but since this is a sushi bar, I decided to focus just on the sushi this time.
I started with a “Sapporo Draft Beer Black Label (medium)” (３３０円).
When you order sushi, they first bring out soy sauce, wasabi, and gari pickled ginger.
First, I tried the “Tsukimi Natto” (９０円).
It’s a gunkan-style sushi topped with chopped natto and egg yolk.
You can order all sushi by the single piece.
Next, I ordered some nigiri.
These are “Tamago” (９０円), “Simmered Anago” (９０円), “Duck and Green Onion” (１４０円), and “Oyster” (１９０円).
They really are cheap…

Next up were “Wild Sea Bream” (１９０円), “Fatty Sawara” (１９０円), and “Cutlassfish” (１９０円).
The fish nigiri is fresh and genuinely well made.

And finally, here are “Hon Maguro Toro” (２４０円) and “Seared Wagyu Sankaku Bara” (２４０円).
It’s nice that even premium toppings are easy to order when you can get them by the single piece.

Being able to eat your fill of proper sushi for this price is really a great deal.
