“ソの弐 SANAKA style 香櫨園屋台” near Hanshin Nishinomiya, a place we previously visited for our “Izakaya 3,000 yen project,” has also started offering takeout.
Their signature “Mapo Tofu,” along with a la carte dishes and even pizza, are apparently available for takeout.
This time, I’m going to enjoy a drink with takeout dishes from “ソの弐 SANAKA style 香櫨園屋台.”

Dishes from “ソの弐 SANAKA style 香櫨園屋台”
This time, I ordered the “Cheese Curry Mapo Tofu” (750 yen).
It adds curry and cheese to their regular mapo tofu.
First of all, the mapo tofu itself is the real deal.
(Regarding part of the original wording here, it included an expression that may have hurt the izakaya. We sincerely apologize.)
It isn’t especially spicy, but you can clearly taste the chili pepper and Sichuan pepper, and the curry aroma is added to that authentic mapo tofu flavor.
I wondered if the chili, Sichuan pepper, and curry flavors might clash, but they actually bring out the best in each other, and it felt like the three flavors were enhanced through their synergy.
Then the cheese wraps everything together and ties it all up.
It’s a brilliant idea.
By the way, I looked up what kinds of alcohol go well with mapo tofu, and it seems to pair with quite a lot of things. Well, of course it does.
