Here’s today’s quiz↓
Q. How do you read this town name? “常磐町”

The Nishitsu correct answer rate is 60%

There’s the “Ipponmatsu” pine tree, which appears in The Makioka Sisters and was also featured in a Nishitsu article.

Believe it or not, this Ipponmatsu pine tree and the Jizo statue are right in the middle of the road! The road curves around them \(^o^)/
The correct answer is “Tokiwacho”.
The Origin of “Tokiwacho”
According to information from Nishinomiya Internet TV,
this area was divided into town names through land readjustment, and Tokiwacho was named after the “Ipponmatsu” pine tree because its color stays unchanged throughout the year.
Tokiwacho is here on the map↓
The address is Tokiwacho, Nishinomiya City.
Finally
When I was a kid, I couldn’t read Tokiwacho!
So I searched Google for “常磐町 読み方” (“How to read Tokiwacho”), and found that there are also places called “常磐町” in Sakai City, Osaka Prefecture; Takatsuki City, Kagawa Prefecture; Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture; Shizuoka City, Shizuoka Prefecture; Mito City, Ibaraki Prefecture; and Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture.
They were read either “Tokiwacho” or “Tokiwamachi,” but I was a little surprised to see the name in so many places ヽ(^o^)丿
