Yesterday, ABC TV’s “Cast” seems to have featured Decathlon and Workman Plus.
Cast ABC TV
The program reported on Decathlon and Workman Plus, both of which opened last month.
“Decathlon” is the world’s largest sporting goods retailer from France.
The program focused on why Decathlon chose “Nishinomiya as its first store in Japan, instead of Tokyo or Osaka.”
Apparently, Decathlon is headquartered in France near the city of “Lille,” which is also home to a professional soccer club, and it seems they opened in Nishinomiya because the sports-friendly environment overlapped with that of the French headquarters and Nishinomiya.
By the way, they said there were two reasons Workman Plus decided to open its first Kansai store in Nishinomiya: “the Koshien brand” and “to take on Decathlon.”
In the final comments from each company:
Workman Plus: “We want to energize the market as good rivals!”
Decathlon: “We see them not as rivals, but as friends.”
The segment ended in a way that almost invited viewers to say, “Wait, weren’t you going to take on Decathlon? Friends, really?”
With that in mind, it might be interesting to watch today’s Gaia no Yoake from that perspective.
