Around the area in front of the EDION in Higashimachi, things that look like horizontal bars are being mass-produced.(The mystery has been solved. Added 5/21 at the bottom of the page)

They’re lined up at regular intervals all the way into the distance.
But normally, when you say “horizontal bar,” you mean this, right? ↓

Apparently, they’re not horizontal bars.

If you look closely, there are signs of trees being cut down!

They’ve been cut clean off.
Next week, we’ll look into why they were cut down!(Yes, we’re fully aware of the obvious comment that we should’ve looked into it before writing the article)
The reason they were cut down was because they had rotted (added 5/21)
We contacted Nishinomiya City Hall to ask why the trees had been cut down.
First, the tree species was “poplar”.

They were cut down at the end of August last year (2018). So it was quite a while ago.
As for the reason, after an inspection by a tree doctor, they were cut down because the inside of the trunks had rotted.
And these things that look like horizontal bars were actually “single-pipe barricades”.Rakuten link for single-pipe barricades
You know those cute animal ones you often see at construction sites?

These are also single-pipe barricades.

And the ones in Higashimachi look like this ↓

That is totally a horizontal bar
Back to the story.
We were also able to confirm why the single-pipe barricades were installed!
Eventually, they’ll apparently carry out stump removal, called “bakkon,” where the roots are dug up and removed.
For that reason, single-pipe barricades have been placed around the stumps to ensure pedestrian safety and draw attention to them.
Thank you to the staff member from the Parks and Greenery Division at Nishinomiya City Hall for answering our questions!
