Welcome to “This Week in Nishinomiya,” where we look back at the Nishinomiya openings and closings, hot topics, and more that were covered this week (6/4–6/10) on “Nishi2 (Nishinomiya Tsushin)”!
On Monday the 6th, “Takefuku” along the Yamate Kansen reopened for business. It had been closed since March, so this was the long-awaited reopening!
It was big news that Kenichi Horie became the oldest person in the world to complete a solo, non-stop yacht crossing of the Pacific Ocean, and on Saturday the 4th, when he came to Nishinomiyahama, a crowd gathered there. There also seemed to be a lot of media there the next day, the 5th.

We shared Kenichi Horie’s return on Twitter
On June 4, 2022, Kenichi Horie became the oldest person in the world (83 years old) to complete a solo, non-stop yacht crossing of the Pacific Ocean. We shared the scene that day from Nishinomiyahama on Twitter!
I think these probably got the most likes in Nishi2 Twitter history!
Kenichi Horie arrived at Nishinomiyahama and waved to everyone! 131 likes
We’re truly glad he arrived safely. And the fact that it was Nishinomiyahama made us especially happy!
We’ll keep doing more coverage that focuses on what’s happening “right now” in Nishinomiya.
Nishi2 Survey (Place Names People Can’t Read Correctly)
This happened when the Nishi2 members were talking about an article on hard-to-read place names that will be posted today.

Up to this point, everything was fine.
Then Kurayan from Nishi2 came over to look at Shacho from Nishi2’s PC and said,

Seriously?!
This is pretty much how Nishi2 always operates.
So with that, we’re still waiting for your Nishinomiya tips through our information submission form, LINE, and Instagram!
