■Supporting children’s growth with the kind of attentive care only a privately owned restaurant with long-standing relationships with its customers can provide
“洋食とワインのお店 土筆苑,” a long-established Western-style restaurant, opened in Nishinomiya, Hyogo Prefecture in 1973 as “Bistro 土筆苑.” Among the customers who have been coming for many years, some proposed successfully at our restaurant, got married, and now visit with their two children. Although the relationship is between “the restaurant and its customers,” seeing those children grow gives the restaurant energy too.
The “Growth Hamburg Steak” project was created from that background. We measure a child’s height when they visit, and measure it again on their next visit. If they have grown taller, we give them one special hamburg steak (vacuum-frozen) for every 1 cm of growth. We believe this is the kind of initiative only an independent restaurant can take on, since at a major chain, thoroughly informing staff about the operating procedure would be a burden. We also hope it will spark children’s curiosity about finding out their own height and give families a reason to visit again.

■“Growth Hamburg Steak” Service Overview
Period: From Tuesday, April 19
Eligible: Children of elementary school age or younger
Condition: Please present identification showing the child’s date of birth
Details: If the child’s height has increased since the previous measurement, they receive one special hamburg steak for every 1 cm of growth
(If they have grown 5 cm since the previous visit, they receive 5 special hamburg steaks)
How it works: The restaurant measures the child’s height using a measuring tape or similar tool. Then our staff records the height on a special card.
On the next visit, bring that card and have the child’s height measured again. If they have grown by 1 cm or more,
they will receive special hamburg steaks.
